The Kowa BD II 6.5x32 XD Wide Angle Binocular was added to the second generation of BD XD binoculars by popular demand. The 6.5x32 is a perfect size for watching butterflies and dragonflies or taking in broad scenic vistas thanks to a field of view measuring 525' at 1000 yards and a close focus of 4.25'. Best of all, it has all the optical advantages of the series. The BD II 6.5x32 XD has Kowa Prominar ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass objectives that have plenty of fluoride crystal mixed in. All lenses are fully multi-coated and the external surfaces have KR hydrophobic coatings to repel water and dirt. The BaK-4 roof prisms are phase-corrected and have Kowa's C3 reflective coatings for maximizing light transmission. Despite being waterproof, nitrogen purged, and rubber armored, the 32mm BD II XD binoculars weigh only 18.5 ounces.

Great Wide Angle Binocular for the Money!

I got my Kowa BD II 6.5x32 today. I am very impressed with them. 6.5x is pretty nice when you have a 10 degree FOV. There is quite a bit of WOW factor even at 6.5x which doesn't happen with the smaller FOV binoculars at this low of a magnification. The edges soften up a bit but as Dries said they have a pretty big sweetspot and they are very sharp on-axis. They handle CA quite well even at the edge and they handle glare quite well for such a small binocular. The focuser is very smooth without slack or any stickiness. They seem to be very bright also so I assume they have good coatings. Of course the 6.5x magnification gives you good DOF and they are very easy to hold steady even noticeably easier than a 7x. I think they perform well above their price point and they are the first binocular less than 8x that I actually like. Kowa did a good job on these. I agree with Dries that they are a very good value for $400.00.

ON 10/04/19 I placed an order for a pair of Kowa BD II 6.5X32 Binoculars and after four days of not hearing a word, I called and was told that they did not have them and did not know when they would, but they did manage to charge my card, so I immediately cancelled the order and called Optics4birding (talked to Steve) to see if they had them in stock well they did and after a fairly lengthy discussion regarding these binoculars and others Steve told me that when he and the guys looked through them their first impression was "WOW" and after getting them today 10/11/19 I have agree with their take on this glass "WOW" is not an exaggeration and the view is immediately immersive. I have not yet had chance to give them a serious test but first impressions are positive, they work well with my eyeglasses and I get a full field view. Ordered 10/08/19 shipped 10/8/19 received 10/11/19, Great service all around.

I needed a new pair of binoculars for my wife who lost 95% of her vision. Strange as it sounds she sees nothing on the tv , but with binoculars she can see enough to get by,also the kids sporting games or anything else. So I ordered a pair from Optics4birding and Pete called me and asked about my order. I said what I needed them for and Pete recommended this pair over the others I had ordered.
