The Pulsar Axion 2 LRF XQ35 Thermal Monocular includes an 1100 yard laser rangefinder along with its 1400+ yard thermal detection range. Heat signatures are read by a 384x288 pixel microbolometer and delivered to a 640x400 pixel AMOLED display in any of 8 different palettes. The displayed images or video can be saved on a 16GB memory chip or transmitted over Wi-Fi. You can even share the display with other phones using the Stream Vision 2 app.

The Axion 2 LRF XQ35 is constructed with magnesium alloy, so it weighs less than 10 ounces. It is IPX7 waterproof. Power is delivered by a Pulsar APS5 Li-ion battery with a lifetime of 11 hours per charge.

Color Palettes

Hot White Color Palette

The most commonly used color palette is hot white, where the hottest part of the view is the brightest white. This makes it easiest to find a target but may obscure colder surrounding objects.

Hot Black Color Palette

When seeing the terrain is as important as seeing the target, switching to hot black will show you the most detail in your surroundings. Notice how the bark of the trees and the blades of grass are easy to see.

Monochrome Red Color Palette

One of the things that can alert your quarry to your presence is when the light exiting the eyepiece lights up your eye for all the world to see. The monochrome red palette minimizes the brightness of the light hitting your face from the eyepiece, keeping you better hidden.

Hot Red Color Palette

The hot red palette shows brighter for higher temperatures but keeps all the colors in the red family. This does less to disturb your eye's ability to see in the dark naturally.

Sepia Color Palette

The sepia color palette is the most restful on the eyes as the screen brightness is lower. It is recommended for longer duration viewing.

Rainbow Color Palette

The rainbow color palette is used to give more differentiation between various temperatures in the image. The rainbow palette has brighter colors for cool temperatures and deeper colors for higher temperatures. It is good for finding hot spots in electrical equipment, and might work well for locating owls in trees.

Ultramarine Color Palette

The ultramarine color palette is also used to give more differentiation between various temperatures in the image. The ultramarine palette has brighter colors for warmer temperatures and deeper colors for lower temperatures. Also good for finding hot spots.

Violet Color Palette

The violet color palette helps to identify objects faster. You can see that in this palette the outline of the animal is very well defined, but so are the facial features. The darker background makes the animal stand out.
