The Nikon Monarch HG 10x42 Binoculars incorporate many of the features expected in today's top optics: the magnesium alloy chassis houses an optical system that provides 92% light transmission through fully multi-coated ED (extra-low dispersion) lenses, including field flatteners, scratch-resistant coating on the external lenses, and dielectric coated, phase-corrected BaK-4 prisms. The Monarch HGs sport a 6.6' close focus, and the 10x42 has a field of view of 362' at 1000 yds. Ergonomic features include a locking diopter, twist-up eyecups with detents, and a wide interpupillary range (56-74mm). Of course, the Monarch HGs are waterproof and nitrogen purged. They can withstand a depth of 16.4' for 10 minutes and altitudes of 16,404'
Premium Optics
The Monarch HG 42mm optics include ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass for reduced chromatic aberration and high-quality multi-layer coatings on the lens and prism surfaces for improved resolution and light transmission. For protection from scratches, external lens surfaces are covered with a scratch-resistant coating.
Field Flattener Lens System
Nikon's Field Flattener System reduces the curvature of the field of focus so that the extremely wide field of view is sharp all the way to the edge of the image.
Compact & Lightweight
The Monarch HG 10x42 has a magnesium alloy chassis that provides strength, durability, and reduced weight. The chassis is wrapped in rubberized material for a sure grip and impact cushioning. Inside, Monarch HG 42mm binoculars are O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged, making them water- and fogproof to 16,000 feet.
