The Leica Geovid 8x42 is a hybrid binocular with an intrinsic rangefinder. Leica Geovids are roof prism binoculars, complete with all of the usual refinements, including P40 phase-coated prisms and full HDC multi-coating on 7 lens elements in each barrel. The 8x42 Geovids have a 368-foot field of view at 1000 yards, and offer 18 mm of eye relief and multi-position eyecups. Leica Geovids are completely sealed and nitrogen-purged to be fog-proof and waterproof to a depth of 16.5 feet. The 8x42 Geovid weighs 33.5 oz. including the batteries. The rangefinder on the Geovid 8x42 functions from about 10 to 1300 yards at an accuracy of +/- 0.25-0.5%, providing read-out with a bright LED. The Geovid rangefinder operates in scanning mode and is powered by lithium batteries good for about 2000 measurements, and the system operates with a 1.4 second (maximum) lag time.
