The Leica Geovid 8x42 HD-R Type 402 Binocular Rangefinders combine optical quality of Leica's top-of-the-line binoculars with the functionality of a 6000ft. laser rangefinder and integrated ballistics systems. Leica's Advanced Ballistic Compensation technology measures atmospheric conditions including temperature, and air pressure alongside rangefinder data from your relative viewing angle to calculate ballistic compensation values. To maximize the accuracy of compensation values for a shooter, the user can input their rifle's zero distance and select a ballistics curve corresponding to the chambered round. The system is loaded with 12 preset ballistic curves for various calibers and weights, with the option of custom presets using a tool on Leica's website, then stored and uploaded using the included micro-SD card. An in-view LED display allows the observer to see the calculated values without taking their eyes off the target.
The Geovid HD-R 8x42 type 402 uses a Phase-Corrected Perger Porro prism design combines the benefits of Roof and Porro prisms, offering the form of a Roof prism without sacrificing depth of field or color fidelity. All of Leica's proprietary lens and prism coatings are here including the High Durable (HDC) multi-layer anti-reflection coating, the AquaDura lens coatings that repel water while also adding strength against abrasive elements and scratches. All of these features form an exceptionally powerful multi-purpose optic built to withstand tough conditions and transmit brilliant images even in low light.
The Geovid also includes a range of ergonomic features and user-friendly interaction. Auto-adjusting display brightness, two-button rangefinder operation, and an included micro-SD memory card make the Geovid HD-R a fully-loaded rangefinder. The dual-bridge configuration and center focus wheel balance the housing for grip and stability while 16mm eye relief and 4-position click-stop eyecups that twist up allow the optimal distance for any observers comfort.
